Yoga In Schools.

Teaching children to breathe.

There is nothing more magical than seeing a class of children lying still, with their hands on their hearts feeling themselves breathing in and breathing out.

Yoga is so much more than a PE lesson. It is packed with tools that help children to navigate the world around them and manage the emotional rollercoaster of growing up in today’s environment.

Breathing, positivity, being still, balance, giving things a go, challenge and believing in ourselves are just a few of the wonderful messages they can take away from my sessions.

My sessions are all story based going on an adventure with a character who often needs our help. Life lessons like looking out for our friends, never giving up, doing our best and being determined are woven in throughout. This is all done alongside chosen elements of the wider curriculum and tips to stay healthy. For example my sessions this year have focused on materials, comparing/contrasting, habitats, past/future, plants and sustainability with messages such as sun safety, healthy eating, being physically active and drinking water (to name a few!) snuck in too.

Alongside my specialist women focused training, I am also a Certified Cosmic Kids yoga teacher. At the moment I am focussing my efforts on teaching yoga to children in the Early Years and KS1 ages.

If you are a teacher and looking to bring some yoga into your school, then please do get in touch.

PE Co-Ordinator - Early Years/KS1

“Yoga has been a fantastic addition to our PE curriculum offer. The sessions are always well planned and delivered by Tash. Tash uses stories to guided the children through a sequence of yoga poses. The children listen intently and are engaged throughout the story telling.  Tash demonstrates and encourages all learners to try the poses. She has worked with all our children and includes every child from Year R – Year 2. All children have benefited from having curriculum time to develop their toolkit of self-regulation it has led to improvements in well-being and mental health.”
